A Trader’s Guide to Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse

Ever wondered what you'd need to survive a zombie apocalypse? Wonder no more. Bodyguard Workwear have put together a Trader's guide to surviving it. Read on to prepare...

Prepare to Survive

Firstly, this Haynes Zombie Survival Manual will help you prepare for that inevitable apocalyptic day. Read it on your lunch break, and in the van on the way home (providing you’re not the designated driver). It will provide you with vital information to survive and flourish in the new world.

Another key addition to your preparation will be this Map of the Dead. The interactive tool will help you find the nearest Tesco and BP station for your basic resources. You won’t find our Safety Workwear & PPE superstore on the map, but you can save our address in your Google Maps account instead.

Things you’ll need

  • Zombie survival manual

  • Zombie resource map

  • Bookmark to Bodyguard Workwear for your Safety Wear and PPE

Gear Up

Once you’ve done your preparation, you’ll now need to kit yourself out in Safety Workwear and PPE. As a trader, you’ll already have some of this gear, but it’s unlikely you’ve got enough to protect you at a time like this. Start from the top down, protecting your head and face then working your way down right to your feet. Take no risks, unless you’d like to lose a chunk of arm or face!

Starting at the top, grab yourself a Safety Helmet along with a Face Visor. Check out our Head Protection. Next go for a lighter-weight combination of the Snickers Logo Hoodie, Snickers Tool Vest and Snickers DuraTwill Trousers with Holsters. The lighter weight combination will allow you to manoeuvre whilst keeping yourself safe. In the Winter, you can opt for some Orange FR Hi Vis. Pick a Coat, Trousers and Balaclava for optimal weather protection. You’ll stand out, but highly beneficial, particularly if you’re in a group and get lost going for walkies in the local park.

Things you’ll need

  • Safety Helmet

  • Face visor

  • Ear protection

  • Safety glasses

  • Base layers

  • Safety jacket or hoody

  • Safety vest

  • Safety trousers with holsters

  • Cut 5 safety gloves

  • Tactical safety boots

  • Work socks

Tool Up

Now you’ve geared up defensively, you’ll now need to think about your attacking strategy. Whilst an assault rifle may be tempting, you’ll struggle to get your hands on one, and enough ammunition to keep you safe. It’s also not the stealthiest weapon of choice. That’s where tools come into your armoury.

Now, we’re not telling you to pack your Dewalt combi and start power drilling your way through zombies. However, a selection of tools which will keep you safe and stealthy would be a pocket knife, an axe and a solid hammer.

Things you’ll need

  • Tactical backpack

  • Hammer

  • Axe

  • Binoculars

  • Flashlight

  • Batteries

  • Sleeping bag

  • Stealth knife

  • Grappling hook

  • First aid kit

  • Cookings set

  • Solar battery charger

  • Walkie talkies

  • Pens

  • Map

Guard your House

Your location is key. Live in a heavily-populated area? Tell the partner you’re both relocating. Preferably Northumberland where the population isn’t as dense. Head over to Right Move now.

Re-locate? No start to assess your new house. Add some heavy-duty doors with a steel core. Glass windows? Forget it. Upgrade them to ACE Security Laminates, which are bullet and bomb proof. Take no chances. If you have the resources, built a concrete wall surrounding your house.

Things you’ll need

  • Steel core doors

  • Security laminated windows

  • A border, preferably concrete-filled cinder-block wall

  • CCTV

  • Backup home generator

Stock Up to Re-fuel

It’s unlikely you’ll be able to order your favourite curry off Just Eat in the event of a zombie apocalypse, so you’re going to have to stock up on food supplies.

Things you’ll need

  • Survival food supply (find a 6 month supply of rations online)

  • Water filter bottle

  • Water purification tablets

  • Matches

  • Camping cooking set

You Need a Vehicle

Bodyguard Vehicle

You can’t survive on foot. You need a vehicle to get around, gather more resources and run over a mass herd of walkers. What better vehicle than the Ford Transit. With a bit of work, you can install front and rear cameras with night vision, a multi-function siren and rear spy windows, perfect for survival.

There you have it. That’s our guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse. Print it out. Keep it in your toolbox. You’ll never know when you’ll see that first walker around the corner...
